Placerita Family Hike

My cousin Summer is in town and the kids are loving it.  No joke, love at first sight, here.  I too have enjoyed getting to know Summer better on a different level now that we're older.  Saturday we all had the afternoon free to grab some lunch and a hike.  It was a gorgeous day especially considering the kids are getting older and can do much more walking these days.  Ok, not entirely, but better than the last few years.

If Mr. Cole had it his way, he'd take his sweet time stopping to "ooh" and "ahh" over every little detail of the trail!  Yep, he slowed us down a tad.

We were all so proud of Ryan and all the walking he did.  Summer was a trooper and did carry the sack of potatoes part of the way but for Ry, yeah he did an excellent job.

How's potty training going, you ask!?!  Rather well, actually.  It'd be even better if someone would fess up to teaching Cole it's ok to pull down your pants and pee no matter where you are... on a hike, in the backyard or even in the bushes of the ward building.  Boys!

Thankfully we passed an honest woman about a mile from the waterfall and she informed us there was no waterfall and it smelled nasty.  We turned around right then to head back and it's a good thing we did because the sun began to set and the air became chilly.  Once back to the cars, we had the chance to take the kids through the nature center and the elderly couple that worked there went over and beyond to show the kids all their animals behind the closed doors.  Everyone had a blast up to the moment we had to leave to head home and change for the Stake Baptisms and Ward Spaghetti Dinner.  Long Day!
